What would occur if you reinstate 1 40 ports Cisco switch with 8 5ports switch from Fry’s?

If you have 8 5 port switches, you would lose 14 ports because you would need to hook them together.
The cheap switches are simple and not managed, the ports just forward data. A Cisco switch is usually managed, meaning that you can configure each of the ports for different duties. . . VLAN, VOIP, etc. . .
If you had 13 5 port switches, you would get 41 usable ports
