So it’s basically a HD skype. That’s sci-fi..
John Chambers is onstage in Bangalore India. Martin DeBeer is in San Jose California. Seperated by 14K miles, yet they have a conversation in real time, in high def.
Pretty impresive……………and game changing.
Cisco has saved over $100 MILIION in travel alone this year and increased productivity at the same time using Telepresence.
TP is changing the way we work, live, play and learn. I deal with it and use it everyday.
Once you have experienced it, you will understand what the engineers at Cisco have REALLY done.
Except it is being done in real time, in High Def (1080p), with ZERO latency except for the normal transmit times to traverse the globe. 25 patents went into creating TP. Amazing? YES, it is.
This is not standard TP. It was hot rodded a little. The normal 65″ 1080p Plasma monitor was replaced with a projector hooked directly to the codec for output.
sighh. No, it’s not a scam, it’s a camera technique that looks cool. He’s not actually there.
